Abstract
This capstone develops a research theory and methods to ascertain the baseline social capital of East Boston, as well as, the baseline attitudes, beliefs and expectations of East Boston residents regarding the introduction of a casino in their neighborhood. This baseline is needed because research has shown that there is a significant negative impact on social capital within fifteen miles of a gambling establishment, and East Boston, at just 6.4 square miles, is the front contender to host the first destination gambling casino in Massachusetts.
