Abstract
WITH GHOSTS is a collection of poems exploring the many complexities of loss. With this project, I aim to look at the kind of woman I have become through several experiences of loss. A woman who has lost her mother, a woman who has endured emotional abuse from past relationships, a woman who has endured heartbreak, a woman who has been forced to make difficult decisions that lead to loss, and overall, a woman who has lost herself. All these moments of loss from the start of my life have had a tremendous impact on how I perceive the world around me, so with this project I hope to capture this impact. Even the loss I have conceptualized in the anime I have consumed over the course of my life has had an impact on my understanding of loss and identity. Loss happens every day, loss happens when we least expect it, loss happens suddenly, and ultimately loss is inevitable.
