Authentic folktales and stories are bearers of the Chinese culture and moral values and the basis for various exercises: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking and writing tasks. In this session, the presenter demonstrates how she sets the stage for her students to learn and perform the language through stories. Participants will learn how to pick up an authentic folktale, simplify the story, tell the story, ask about the story, act the story, and help students retell the story. Furthermore, participants will also explore different ways to assess students formally and informally.
Lecture focus:
- Stories in education: stimulating interest, cultivating ability
- Learning how to study, and the art of performing the stories
- Teaching, studying, and evaluating
