Abstract
DON’T BE A STRANGER is a collection of seventeen short stories examining the ways in which we say goodbye. On how we say it when we can, when we can’t, when we don’t want to, when we don’t know we are, the ways in which we say it with technology, and how these all coalesce into a worldview. They focus largely on relationships, memory, mental illness, and chosen and biological families. The stories aim to take certain moments of departure and, rather than encase them in amber, recognize the ways in which we move forward from them into a world that is conflictingly both different and fundamentally unchanged.
