Abstract
The Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP) for food stamps, is the largest domestic food security program in the United States. Research has been devoted to the nutritional sufficiency of the grants provided to households. Very little research has explored the method for determining monthly income and the impact that calculation has on the grant a household is eligible to receive. This capstone will explore the impact of income calculation, specifically the shelter expense cap, on SNAP recipients in Massachusetts.
