Abstract
How does it feel to inhabit a bad home: to start and end each day in a freezer, say, or on a gallows? How does it feel to move through your school or workplace when everyone assumes you live in a mansion, apartment, shack, or normal house, rather than your actual home of an ultimate fighting arena? “The Bad Homes Alphabet” of poems considers these questions. The poems in the second section, “Better Homes and Graveyards,” address the search for a (figurative) good home, the process of burying one’s past, and the subsequent process of dealing with an entire graveyard full of dead pasts in one’s back garden.
