Abstract
What is our relationship to faith in the moment of crisis? Is faith merely magical thinking, or something else? This novel in progress, set in Haiti shortly after the 2010 earthquake, follows a cast of characters seeking to set their lives upright again. As they struggle with the earthly concerns of life and death, of things lost and found, they must also grapple with questions about the limits of both religion and hardboiled critical thinking in the face of tragedy.
