Department Chair: Jack Levy
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction houses four distinct programs: Teacher Education, Special Education, Critical and Creative Thinking and Instructional Design. Critical and Creative Thinking is a interdisciplinary program that provides its students with the knowledge, tools, experience and support to become constructive, reflective agents of change in education, work, social movements, science and the creative arts. Instructional Design addresses the design and delivery of instructional materials. The Department offers undergraduate, master’s and post-master’s programs leading to initial and professional licensure. Special Education offers graduate programs leading to initial and professional licensure in either Moderate Disabilities or Vision Studies. All of the Department’s teacher preparation programs are accredited by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Critical and Creative Thinking and Instructional Design also have master’s and certificate programs.
