On February 11, 2013, the University of Massachusetts Confucius Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston kicked off the Year of the Snake with a Chinese New Year performance produced exclusively for the university.

The evening closed with an announced version of PSY's Gangman Style. The UMass Boston students in the video, Joey Nguyen, Samalie Eugene, Stanley La, Cindy Lee, and Kim Soun Ty, are all part of the university's Asian Student Center. See the video of this performance here.
